Guest guest
strange experiences 3 Science and Miracles If we do not have so called 'scientific' explanation for these unusual events, it does not mean they have not occurred, or they are not worthy of our consideration, they are just magic and hypnotism to be scoffed at. If we do so, we may be labeled as unscientific in our approach; for science in essence means methodical study of body of observed facts. If one applies one set of parameters to inscrutable events in one group of persons and another for the person/s whom we regard as our Ishta (say for example Sri Ramakrishna), are we not guilty of bias and prejudice? and bias and prejudice go against scientific search. Therefore, it is better never to get surprised or repulsed at strange, unusual, and inexplicable events, experiences (miracles!) anywhere in this universe. With folded hands we can say, 'O lord, inscrutable are the ways of your lila - play -, if you want me to understand them then give me that power to decipher their meaning. Or else, just say, 'I agree with the observed facts in the life of so and so person, but I do not want to comment about it for I do not know how to explain these miracles or wonders.' A day will sure to come when scientists will take up study of these 'miracles' and come up with 'scientific' explanations as it has done about strange events in the past. Their study itself should form one branch of science! These events are authentic and documented. We should study these facts, categorize them and then theorize upon them to form a working hypothesis. Then in due course of time, as more and more facts come to light from various sources, both in time and place, we can put them as scientific theory for experimentation and verification of the results. c s shah -- For E-zine on Vedanta and Science Do Visit: http://www.neovedanta.org ----
