Guest guest
If anyone is donating money in England towards the relief effort, please try to give via a registered charity there, as apparently the Govt automatically pays an additional percentage of the amount donated. > > Mack [sMTP:mlad] > Wednesday, January 31, 2001 1:28 PM > Ramakrishna > [ramakrishna] Namaste > > I was just curious to know how is the condition in Rajkot, Gujarat after > the earth quake? Guest guest
Dear Satya -- I know this is bad argument cause you don't pose a question for a question but i think it is one of the ways of answering what you have asked. WE BREATHE AND IN THE PROCESS MANY LIVING BEINGS ARE KILLED. SHOULD WE STOP BREATHING? I THINK WE SHOULD PUT UP THE QUESTION AS TO HOW DOES BEING VEGETARIAN HELP IN BEING SPIRITUAL? Guest guest
Great response, Kapil! Great question. In Native American tradition, the buffalo hunters would thank the buffalo for sacrificing itself so that their people could survive. Before eating, we acknowledge that Brahman is the offering, the one who offers, the act of offering, etc. Basically, there is no justification for " killing " , whether it be a human, an animal, a carrot or a microbe. Perhaps that's why the Rishis taught that no action is without consequences, good and evil. When I first met him, my guru asked, " Do you eat meat? " " Yes, Swami " " Do you eat beef? " " Yes, Swami " . He smiled and replied, " Good, I hear it makes you very strong " . The only guideline that makes sense to me is what Swamiji taught: that if an act makes you strong, it is good; if it makes you weak, avoid it. What vision! What courage! Best wishes, Mkewbird
Guest guest
Dear Ajay, When u cut a plant it will grom again but when u cut a part of an animal it will not grow. This is the difference between living plants and animals. Hence people (forefathers) thought that plants were better than animals for eating. There are also other reasons which have been scientifically proved that plants are better than animals. Therefore, vegetarianism leads to purity of mind whereas taking meat would tend to beahve like beast.
