Guest guest
Following is the copy of email from John Manetta in Athens jmanveda He is involved with 'Ramakrishna Vedanta Study Circle' in Athens. I had asked him a bit more about his background and work. This was his response. I am sharing it with the list. ========part of email from John Manetta===== As for the African link, it was indeed interesting and overwhelmingly extensive. I knew Swami Nihsreyasanandaji from my first visit to India in 1953. He was at Madras Math and introduced me to Swami Ritajanandaji, then in charge of the college. Later, Swami N. went to France and on his way back to India stayed in Alexandria, Egypt (my then place of residence). Later again, when I shifted residence to Athens, Swami N. stayed with me for a week during a trip to Europe from Africa. We were very friendly, and I have a number of tapes of his lectures, mostly got from Bourne End. Activities here are not that spectacular. We meet once a week on Fridays, for some readings and meditation. That is all. I avoid public speaking. I attend meetings of a Society for the Study of Religion every Monday, where I occasionaly contribute something to the discussions. I have translated ten works into Greek, and am presently translating MAHA YOGA by Who (The Upanishadic Lore in the light of the teachings of Ramana Maharshi), which I think is an appropriate complement to my translation of NINE UPANISHADS. Daily Thoughts And Prayers (Paramananda) is in the press. =======================
