Dear padmanabhan,

Let me try to give answer to your questions. I hope

in this way somehow of my doubts will also be cleared.

Your question is about existence of God.

In vedanta, they never ask this question. Vedanta

firmly beleives there is God and gives many of logical

explanation to prove the existence God. like salt

mixed with water. We don't see salt in water but when

we taste it we feel the saltiness. Sameway God is

everywhere we don't see, we can feel precence of God

if try sincearly.

Sages say " I am God " is the state only in samadhi. In

the normal state of mind there is point in saying I am

God. About the Idol worship, think even though there

is ocean of milk infront of you you drink milk by

taking in small cup only, in the same way though God

is everywhere, it will be easy if we can conceptualise

the God in a idol form and worship.

Above explanation answers this question. presently we

identify ourselves with our mind or body. But the real

thing is we are verily that brahman or we have to

identify ourself with that atman. This can only happen

when someone is in samadhi state. That is what

vievkananda was feeling, as and when he went int

samadhi his mind vanished he was one with God. close

to God means, I feel how much we have detached

ourselves from mind & body.

As other list memebers have suggested, I would also

recommend you to read complete " complete works of

Vivekananda " . The answers for most of these questions

will be found. The only thng remaining will be

practical part. As S.V himself says, " there is no

therory in religion, it is all practical " .
