Hi,

Desire is a form of energy which drives us forward.

God has been seen as a timeless, all pervading,

omnipotent spiritual being who has always existed.

This ether like being is called Parabrahman. It is

said that in him arose the energy (desire) from which

the entire world has come into existence. This is not

very different from the Big bang theory in cosmology,

where it is postulated that great amounts of energy

came into existence for unknown reasons, which

converted itself, within milliseconds, into quarks and

other elementary particles from which all matter

arose.

Since the entire universe has come from one source, it

stands to reason that both good and evil came from the

same source. Good and evil are relative terms. That

which is farther away from the centre (divinity) is

seen as evil and that which is relatively nearer is

seen as good.

I do not know why we have been created. As it is said

in the Rig Veda, ' maybe the one in the highest heaven

knows, or maybe he also knows not'.

There are however, some theories that can be pondered

over. It is believed that souls were thrown far away

from the divine centre ( making them less divine and

thereby more evil), and are required to slowly evolve

towards the divine centre over several births slowly

giving up the negative energy and growing in divine,

positive energy(qualities). This is largely seen as an

eternal play or leela, which has no end.

Thanks & regards.

Sriram
