Guest guest
Christopher J FLORES Abortion is an extremely unfortunate thing. Normally, people should have their life planned well enough so that there is no unwanted pregnancy. Nowadays, we often find that people do not have their life planned out so well, or that they may be victim of rape. Even in the case of rape there is an ancient Hindu story of the child Prahlad. His father was known as the worst criminal, but his son Prahlad became one of the greatest saints. While the mother was pregnant with Prahlad she fell into the care of the great saint Narada. So I believe the actual original Hindu tradition would be in opposition to abortion as much as possible even in the case of rape or incest. Lord Visnu is also celebrated as the protector of the unborn child. If you notice His entering the womb of Uttara to protect the unborn child from the deadly rays of the Brahmastra weapon. I think this would narrow abortion down to cases of extreme health risk to the child and or mother. Hindu has to do with " Vedic " tradition and this means a profound reverence for all life. Killing is avoided if at all possible. ys
