Guest guest
namaste, i think i have read in a book that when the news of swamiji's success at the world parliament of religions reached his guru bhai's, they were not very sure of the identity of the person as they knew Swamiji with the name Swami Vividishananda. Probably it was at the request of Maharaj of Khetri, Ajit Singh, that swamiji stuck to the name Swami Vivekananda, before leaving for America. I do not know, Who actually coined the word vivekananda. I think he also introduced himself as swami Satchidanada when he was wandering as a monk. He stayed with Tilak during this time, but did not introduce himself with the name Vivekananda. That is why, Tilak only recognised swamiji after seeing him, when the latter returned from America. I also do not know which of these three names he took when he formally took monastic vows after performing Viraja homa. regards, Vikas ------------------ " Vivekananda Centre " <vivekananda wrote: " list " <Ramakrishna > " Vivekananda Centre " <vivekananda Date:Wed, 30 May 2001 10:23:56 +0100 Subject:[ramakrishna] Sweet From time to time we get some 'sweet message' as under. Can we request a list member to reply directly....? ----------------------------copy of message----------- Dear Sir, Your effort in spreading out the teachings of Swami Vivekananda is quite commendable. We are confused as to who was behind the very name of " Swami Vivekananda " . Did he himself coin the name? Ours is an institution for kids of 3 to 9. Class IV students have to write a piece on Swamiji. They will be benefited with the reply.
