Guest guest
Dear Vidyapriya, Jay, the " captain " of our group, has asked me to reply to your query about codes in the Ramakrishna Order. You will not find anything published about that. As in all such customs, there is indeed a basic code of behavior, not only vowed at the time of taking the vows, but also among the monastics before and afterwards. These vary according to geography, age, seniority etc. Sri Ramakrishna taught his disciples to behave " according to the time, the place, and the circumstances. " So in our Order there is a good deal of freedom. On the other hand, Swami Vivekananda is held up to us as the model, and we look to him and the patterns he set, as guides. I hope this answers your questions; if not, try again. There also some books which show behavior, in passing, which could be mentioned if you are more deeply interested. ------ Swami Yogeshananda Vedanta Center of Atlanta 2331 Brockett Road Tucker, GA 30084 Ph: 770-938-6673 yogeshananda http://www.vedanta-atlanta.org/
