SRI RAMAKRISHNA ASHRAMA

MADANPUR-RAMPUR, KALAHANDI

Situated in the Madanpur-Rampur block of Kalahandi,

one of the most backward districts of Orissa Sri

Ramakrishna Ashrama seeks to propagate the ideas of

Swami Vivekananda- " Atmano mokhsyartham jagad hitaya

ca " as well as to spread the soul inspiring teachings

of Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sarada Devi It is situated at

a distance of 350 kms from Bhubaneswar on the way to

Bhawanipatana. Swami Vairagyananda , the founder of

the ashrama is functioning as the Secretary at

present. Following are the activities undertaken by

the Ashrama in right earnest .

1.Allopathic and Homeopathic Mobile Dispensary.

Caters to the needs of fifty nearby villages free

using the services of qualified doctors.

2.Old Age Home.

Gives shelter to 25 (twenty five) old destitutes

from poor and backward families with free bed, dress,

food, medical care etc.

3.Tribal Boys' Hostel.

Fifty (50) students from the poorest tribal

families are trained in religious-cultural

atmosphere. Every need of theirs is looked after to

free including free coaching. It is specially taken

care to foster all round development of the boys.

4.Residential School With Agriculture And Other

Training Center.

Fifty school dropout boys are imparted free

education upto class v in this residential center.

They are also trained in modern farming and other

vocational fields to help them earn livelihood in

future.

5.Agricultural Training Center.

All types of vegetables including Broccoli and

Lettuce are cultivated using high yielding verities of

seed,modern techniques and equipments. There is a

proposal pending with the Govt. to expand the

activities of this center to spread out to nearby 80

villages..

6.Center For Prevention Of Addiction And

Rehabilitation.

The center aims at freeing the poor people from the

clutches of alcoholism and other forms of addiction

through the use of audiovisual shows, persuasion and

personal rapport.

7.National Integration Camps.

The Ashrama conducts national integration camps at

least twice a year. It tries to foster the ideas of

character building, service to the needy & helpless

and patriotic feelings as per the teachings of Swami

Vivekananda. College students from various parts of

the state enthusiastically participate in the camps.

Besides these, annual tithi pujas of Sri Ramakrisna,

Maa Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda are celebrated

in the Ashrama with much devotion.

Presently the only building Ashrama has is used for

the tribal hostel. Another is being constructed for

the old age home. There is a proposal for building

quarters for the Ashrama employees, Sadhu Niwas and

Prayer Hall. Any donation to the Ashrama is exempt

from income tax under 80G of Income Tax Act. Donations

can be sent in the address given below through

India Madanpur-Rampur Branch. Donations however small

shall be acknowledged.
