Guest guest
Namaskar, I agree with Jay on the discussion of infinities. A real Advaiti is rare indeed. Most of these ideas are beyond our grasp, yet. But as Ramakrishna said, " All roads lead to thee " . So any belief we hold will take us to Him as long as we are sincere in it. Like he said, it is better to hold the view that " I am an instrument, and He is the Engineer. " And probably in due course of time the realization will come by itself that Him and I are essentially the same. Let us not be bogged down by technicalities and miss the bigger picture. Intelligence is limiting. It is probably futile to attempt to " understand " God by intelligence. Our pot of intelligence can only hold so much. On the other hand, our ability to love and have faith is boundless. Let us approach Him with love and faith first. I am sure He will always listen to the cry of a sincere devotee. Also, great souls like Vivekananda and Ramakrishna understood God because they realized Him. I do not think Ramakrishna was aware of any mathematical models of infinities. Let us work towards that realization and I am sure all the doubts will get cleared. There is always a difference between knowing the path and walking the path. I am in no way saying intellectual discussions are bad. As a student of science, I relish it and encourage it. But we must also be careful not to loose sight of our goal and the bigger picture. Any comments or criticisms are most welcome. Pankaj Get personalized email addresses from Mail http://personal.mail./
Guest guest
Well said. I too tend to agree that the path gets corrected and refined and sincerety in wanting to reach the goal is paramount. Guest guest
Dear Pankaj- That was so beautifully said! You reminded me that the beauty of words and intellectual discussion is to ultimately get us beyond them- by realizing that the intellect can't grasp God- at the most it can create a " conception of God " so that the finite can approach the infinite. (The Buddhists have the wonderful parable of the " Finger pointing to the Moon. " When the master was asked what Buddhism was, he just raised his hand and pointed his finger to the moon.) At most scriptures can only point to something that exists beyond the constructs in our mind. Hence the power of Bhakti!! Isn't love just another expression of that infinite connectedness? Let's stay in our hearts- God is most attracted by the sincere devotee- the one full of love and mercy- hence his name " Hari, " which is the " Attractive One. " Let's rely on God's mercy so we don't have to get lost in the mind. The message is SURRENDER- which means to renounce, to have faith in God's will. The Master says: " Too much study of scriptures does more harm than good. The important thing is know the essence of the scriptures. After that, what is the need of books? One should learn the essence and then dive deep in order to realize God. " " The Divine Mother has revealed to me the essence of Vedanta. It is that Brahman alone is real and the world illusiory. The essence of the Gita is what you get by repeating the word 10 times. The word becomes reversed. It is then 'tagi', which refers to renunciation. The essence of the Gita is: 'O man, renounce everything and practice spiritual discipline for the realization of God.' " --- DEVINDER AHUJA <devahuja wrote: > Well said.
