Sri K. Balakrishnan Nair, former director of Films Division, Mumbai,

and presently a freelance documentary film maker under the banner

" Chitrasootra " , is on the look out for parties interested in sponsoring

some of his dream projects mentioned below. His ayurveda series (26 episodes

), an in-depth TV series on ayurveda, done as a joint venture with the arya

vaidya pharmacy, (coimbatore) was telecast on DD-Metro during 2000-2001. His

other documentaries include the one on the last Poorna Kumbh Mela of the

20th century (1988), 'Adi Sankara Nilayam'(about the maternal ancestral

home of Adi Sankaracharya), 'Vivekananda Rock Memorial'- a commemorative

video made in 1995, 'Sankriti' -Video extract of an important all world

conference on the theme 'Sanskrit Language and Modern Challenges' organised

at the Chinmaya International Foundation, Cochin, Kerala.

1. Primer Video on the Basics of Hinduism

 

This video will be in the form of a travelogue involving a Hindu father and

son. Using this semi-docudrama approach, the video will give several

glimpses of Hinduism

 

2. A Proposed Hindu Satellite Television Channel

 

This proposed channel is meant for interested audiences anywhere in the

world, but specifically, it will cater to the non-material needs of Hindu

communities in India and abroad.

 

3. Religio-Spiritual Video - An Alternative

 

Indian religio-spiritual videos can serve as an antidote and as a practical

alternative to the combined onslaught of foreign satellite networks and

cable TV. One way of fighting this corrupting influence is to create

entirely different areas of religio-spiritual and culture-specific video

programs

 

4. The professional video documentation of jaimineeya saamaveda tradition at

Panjaal, Kerala, India

 

It is a sure and shocking possibility that this Paanjaal Vedic chanting

style will be lost forever, even as far as our immediate posterity is

concerned. On the basis of our own discussions with each other, it was felt

that there was an urgent and immediate need for the professional video

documentation of the Panjaal Saamavedis to be done at the earliest, before

it is too late. Also, we were in full agreement that the video coverage

should be in the best professional manner possible, so that the end product

of this massive and committed effort should find a market

 

5. The Vivekananda Videotext Project

 

Meant to transpose the Complete works of Swami Vivekananda into professional

video format for telecast and other internet / cyberspace applications. The

aim is to make a pioneering yet, minimalist television series of about 95

hours duration in order to transpose the Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda

into professional telecast beta format for the propagation of Swamiji's

thoughts and ideas.

diverse ethnic, linguistic and cultural parts of the Indian entity, based on

their individual vegetarian cooking. For the housewife-viewer, the serial

will be an armchair-journey across the length and breadth of our majestic

nation and its location specific vegetarian foods. Besides entertainment,

the serial will be designed to motivate the viewer to move towards

vegetarianism
