Guest guest
I would suggest NOT reading the " As It Is " . It's written by a fanatical dualistic sect that has misinterpreted these teachings. They disparage other paths as being inferior, including advaita (monism). To quote Swami Vivekanada: A real Vedantist must sympathize with all. Monism, or absolute oneness, is the very soul of Vedanta. Dualists naturally tend to become intolerant, to think theirs is the only way. The Vaishnavas in India, who are dualists, are a most intolerant sect..... I recommend Swami Satchidananda's " The Living Gita. Guest guest
Hi I agree ! " Bhagavadgita As It Is " is really not " As It Is " ! Swami AC Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada is no doubt an erudite scholar, but he presents Bhagavadgita from a Dvaitic (Dualist) standpoint. The sad part of it is that he does it with such a fanatic zeal (so typical of Vaishnavas) that he literally perverts even those passages that clearly state the Advaitic truth. Swami Vivekananda's statement below " A real Vedantist must sympathize with all " . Also remember that Swamiji always quoted the famous poem from Shiva Mahimnah Sthrotram -- " Ruchinaam vichitriyaad riju kutila nana patha jusham..... " One who does not believe -- " Truth is One, Sages call it variously " , is no Hindu at all. One who did not realize this truth is no Vedantist at all ! Guest guest
Hi Seeta and Robin Let me first start by offering my most humble salutations at the feet of Srila Swami Prabhupada who made millions across the globe recite the great Hare Krishna Maha Mantra. This earth has hardly known somebody with devotion such as his to Lord Krishna. His commentary on the Bhagvad Geeta may not appeal or may even shake a person who is inclined to worship any form of God other than Lord Krishna since they are all classified as demigods (Lord Shiva, Mother Kali, Lord Hanuman etc). So best is to see one's inclination. Incidentally the commentories by Swami Chinmayananda are a masterpiece of the Bhagvad Gita particularly for the intellectually inclined persons since they are directed to the modern " logical " thinkers. Try reading them. Regards --- Robin Hood <robin_u2001 wrote: > Hi Seeta > I would recommend to study " Bhagavad-gita As It Is " > by > Srila Swami Prabhupada.
