Guest guest
Since a week or so a Hindu Youth Festival has been taking place at Roundwood Park London NW10. A number of Hindu bodies in London have come together to organise this festival. Youngsters from the Swaminarayan, Iskcon, Chinmaya, and other bodies have been working on this festival for nearly six months. On average about 500 people attend this event which takes place every evening. The weekend drew about 1000 people each day. This is first such event to take place in London. There is very good chance that this event will be repeated every year and will gather more support. Today the theme was Contemporary Hindu figures. Swami Dayatmananada of the Vedanta Centre London made a presentation on Sri Ramakrishna and I was invited to talk on Swami Vivekananda. The talks were well received. Tomorrow about 18 students who have studied Advanced level Hinduism are going on stage to present a dialogue entitled: 'To be or not to be'... ( a Hindu in the West). The dialogue is a 'critical evaluation' of the role of Hinduism in the West. There is a bit of humour and quite a few sharp comments. If any of the list members wish to attend and need more info please email us. jay Vivekananda Centre London
