Guest guest
Hi everybody, I am extremely sorry for having hurt the feelings of a few members on the list. But I have at the first instance removed the offending paragraph. Hence the second write up should be considered for any further discussion. I say the tragedy was inevitable because the very existence of the world is based on duality: good and bad, knowledge and ignorance, pleasure and pain, life and death, etc. Thus, there will be inevitably very noble incidences as well as very ghastly or evil events also. This cycle has gone over for time immemorial. History is witness to more horrendous events. Everyone wants peace and joy because that is our true nature. This is particularly so because inherited spiritual and religious cultures from ancient times guide us on the path of both Abhyudaya (social and individual progress) and Nishreyasa (path of renunciation) for human fulfillment. Today, human evolution has progressed to the stage where we are prompted to look deeper into our religious beliefs and spiritual understanding. In one's own religion or faith one is sure to find treasures of higher truth; the truth of diversity held together by the unifying substratum of universal divinity. As Swami Ashokananda says: " ...it does not ask us to relinquish one form in favor of another to realize higher spiritual state. It wants us to see superior content in the same form by means of inner development. Even the highest spiritual realizations are possible through image worship, only the meaning of image worship changes as we progress along spiritual path. The image itself becomes at spiritualized. It is then not stone or any other earthly material; it is Spirit itself. The universe with all its variegated objects appears as divine. " Like the culture of science, of reason and rationality, liberty and fraternity, of equality and justice, I just felt that experimentation with globalization of vedantic culture can or might bring more peace and joy and less of violence. I wanted to say this. But my write up instead has caused unnecessary and avoidable misunderstanding and hurt in many of the member friends. I once again say sorry to all the members who had objections to my write up. I want to put a stop to further discussion on this topic from my side. c s shah http://www.neovedanta.org ----
