There is no doubt that the events of last week will have severe consequences for all of us. Is it not strange that the work of a few fanatics can produce such dramatic results? - Perhaps long term war - serious economic consequences for all countries etc... Is it not also strange that the pressure on US to go for all out war is unstoppable? Though many of us would suggest 'caution' -- the pressure the USA government faces is so severe that they really have no choice in the matter. An unstoppable sequence of events have been set into motion. There is one opinion that says that this unfolding tragedy is not merely accidental (just a few people managing to upset the system), but the consequence of serious flaws in the totality of world affairs. These flaws are beginning to surface and will effect all societies and countries. I am sceptical about reading too much into what psychics may suggest. Though there was one part of Maria's message that caught my eye: she said there will be 'an awakening of conscience' Sometimes severe tragedies can act as a spur for spiritual awakening. (Not that anyone would advocate or even dream of such horrific events). This often happens on personal terms. Why not on a national scale? I agree with Edith that the US has a rich spiritual tradition of its own. An unusual consequence of what is happening may result in a nation digging deep and uncovering its full spiritual potential. jay
Guest guest
Jay, I agree very much with the last paragraph of your mail. " Sometimes severe tragedies can act as a spur for spiritual awakening. (Not that anyone would advocate or even dream of such horrific events). This often happens on personal terms. Why not on a national scale? I agree with Edith that the US has a rich spiritual tradition of its own. An unusual consequence of what is happening may result in a nation digging deep and uncovering its full spiritual potential " . Also reading the editorial article, " Vedanta & War " of Vedanta Kesari (a monthly journal of Ramakrishna Order published from Madras, India) will give us more insight to these issues. The article appeared some 4 years back, I forgot the correct issue year & month. The noble intentions of all our friends of this group will certainly bear an impact in today's scenario. - Uday.
