Guest guest
Dear Rachel, 1) My name is Roy and i know precious little about the Gita. I rarely reply to such questions as the the one you ask here. This time, let me attempt to answer just a little bit...just a little.... 2) Broadly, there are 2 kinds of humans on planet earth : - the ones who love silence and introspection and meditation. - the ones who love singing, chanting, dancing, celebrate, mad with love for God. 3) Now, there are thousands of paths in both the ways. But you have to find for yourself which one suits you. And the guarantee is that one of the two suits you perfectly. You have to find it and then follow it. We call it your 'nature' (swabhav) - swa - self and bhav - nature 4) Therefore, scan as many scriptures as possible...as many...scan sufism, scan taosim, scan vedantism, scan advaitsm, scan scripure on bhakti, on gyan, on Buddhism, on jainism, on Christianity, on Judaism, on Islam, BUT....remember....one will light up all your bulbs...that path is yours...now hold on to it and follow your nature......you will be a fish in water. 5) Next, the Gita is like a Pharmacy. You need to know which medicine suits you and accordingly pick the most relevant part. Arjun was the 'ultimate deciple'. The questions are marvelous. Each question is a quality question. Also, like all of us, Arjun has raised all doubts that can possibly be raised. Naturally ! Krishna has answered each question completely. It takes scanning and not studying to 'understand' rather it takes contemplation. 6) karma-yoga-the discipline of action. Please don't become a Mother Teresa ! Karma Yoga means : puja - prayer, path - recitation, dhyan - meditation etc. What you do in between all this is called work. Naturally, any your work in between will have the fragrance of godliness. 7) jnana-yoga-the discipline of knowledge Jnana is not knowledge! Please don't stuff your head with scripture...you will turn into a pundit, a priest, a rabbi, a mulla ....and all these people are full of knowledge and also for sale for a pittance everywhere. Jnana - to be in awe or to be in a state of wonder. Rachel, you will be surprised that watching a sun set and marveling at the beauty....that state of awe is gnayna too...also, the literal meaning is 'to learn continously', if God is infinite.... our awe of God too has to be infinite, therefore, keep on learning. Keep on scanning the scripture and keep holy company...gnyana will happen continuously .... 8) Bhakti Yoga. Rachel, Bhakti Yoga....- the ones who love singing, chanting, dancing, celebrate, mad with love for God. I don't know if Arjun followed all three paths.... Listen to your Mail messages from any phone. http://phone.
Guest guest
one thing which Mr. Roy told about karma yoga is not clear.isn't it all the karmas we all are doing are part of karma yoga only if we surrender the karma phal to the almighty.we should do karma with the only motive of doing it,not entangling ourselves with the results associated with it.... jai shri ramakrishna.. raghav --- " Roy M.
