Guest guest
After posting my question about Ramakrishna's saying about the person who cannot stay in samadhi but has to come down (like a man on the roof), I had an amusing dream that seemed to pertain to my contemplation of the passage. (By the way, thanks to all those who so generously shared their ideas with me.) I dream I am at a party in a building several stories high. The hostess is a rich woman. She is downstairs on the first floor, in in a large kitchen. All the women are there with her. I am looking for my husband. I go up and down the stairs searching the many rooms. The place is teeming with people. Finally I wail at the top of my voice, howling because I can't find him. Then I go to the top floor once more and call his name. He appears at once. He was in a room deeply absorbed in a conversation about meditation--so deeply absorbed that he forgot about everything else for hours. Now he gets up, and I see he's wearing a circular button on his shirt—-a favor he got at the party. It says: I AM, and under that it says, " Go with the flow " --reminding me of the unbroken flow of oil to which samadhi is compared.
