The way you express this gives me an insight I didn't have before. Thank you.

 

I guess what initially confused me is that I felt that there must be more

significance to ni than simply being the highest note, because it is also a note

that needs to go somewhere (to the sa of the next octave, say) and can't just

remain on its own. That is what the ear tells me. Therefore, I didn't understand

how it could be equated with the highest state--I thought maybe it hadto

represent the penultimate state. But now I feel that an analogy does not have to

agree in every aspect--only the essence of it is important, and one does not

need to analyze each detail of the metaphor to see how it matches the reality

being alluded to. It is enough simply to make the point that Sri RK also

expresses through the image of the roof.
