Guest guest
Dear List I have received quite a few private messages in response to my recent comments (apart from some messages via the list). My observations about different responses from Hindu and Western audience is a matter of first hand experience. I deliberately did not attempt to explain why by commenting that 'one group is over its material quest' etc.. My comments focus purely on what is going on and what it may be saying rather than trying to explain why. Initially I was quite oblivious to this phenomenon. But recently these differences become obvious in a very physical way! The way a Westerner is reacting to Swami Vivekananda's message is far more dynamic than a Hindu. (Why? is a separate issue). Swami Vivekananda, according to me represents the most comprehensive, rational and contemporary facet of spirituality. If the Westerner relates to it with greater dynamism (for whatever reasons) then it is the Westerner who is more awake to spirituality. This is all I wish to say on this topic. I really have no bias and in fact have been quite oblivious to any such differences until very recently. These comments are not attempts to run down any Hindu group (God bless 'em). jay
