> Abhimana Grastam - consumed by desease and conceit

> (Vyaadhyabhimaanagrastam), Lokam - the world, Soka - with pangs, Hatam - is

> (riddled) beset, Cha - and, Samastam - whole.

" Life is ultimately nothing but worry,misery and greid " . I wonder how much this

statement can appeal to people. I agree, if we see abosuletly this is the

truth, but how many people can digest this. Many people say such statements are

of pessimistic view. Such statements make people not to see good things in the

world. Those who have understood vedantic teachings they can appreciate this

statement. But this cannot be said with the others.

I remember a song in my mother tongue kannada ( a rough translation of first 2

lines in english goes like this),

 

" Vedanti says gold is mud

a poet sings mud is gold "

 

The approach of vedanti is nivrutti, where as poet approach is pravrutti. For a

samnyasi I agree nivrutti approach is the best, but for householders like us,

it becomes a wrong to adopt nivrutti nature, a bit of pravrutti is always

needed.
