Guest guest
Dear J R, I am interested in that lady's reaction, because I find there are a number who feel the same way, and I recall several things. One is that at a dinner party in N.Y. Vivekananda sat between two people, and was expounding, and she who was on one side said, " Oh, Swami, I can't follow you on that at all! " " Then it was not for you, " he said. " But, " said the other lady, " That was what I found most valuable in what you said! " " Then it was for YOU, " Swamiji remarked. I also recall when I first came to Vedanta, many years ago, attracted though I was by his philosophy, I thought Vivekananda something of a " blowhard " , a paranoic, or a dogmatist; it was only with the years, in which it was learned how important STRENGTH is in spiritual life, that I became Swamiji's real fan. Yogeshananda Dear Brad, 3) That is why I humbly surmise that physical science (as opposed to the metaphysical science of Yoga), may someday ALSO lead us to Realization. God created our universe so that 2+2 always equals 4. Therefore, He created our universe so that it is based on both physical and metaphysical laws. Yes. It reminds me of Kahlil Gibran's saying that the universe is a poem which not only rhymes perfectly, but also scans perfectly. Guest guest
Dear Swami Yogeshanandaji Maharaj: The lady still continues to shun Vivekananda...as he " frightens " her. When she likes a point made to her, and is later told that it is originally taken from Vivekananda...she will immediately switch off and hint that it was not that great after all!! I am always amused...She loves the message, but not the man. Which i suppose would have pleased the Swamiji himself...just as much. " If someone else can lead you to Truth...follow him. Dont follow me " with Pranaams Swamiji jairam > >Dear J R, >I am interested in that lady's reaction, because I find there are a number >who feel the same way, and I recall several things. " " Then it was for YOU, " There was a similar story told about Joseph Campbell, who had talked in one of his classes about the world being Maya. Afterward a young student came up and asked him about it, seeming rather worried about the idea. And he told her, " Darling, that's not for you. " Kind of patronizing, but it makes the same point. _______ Get your free @ address at
