Guest guest
i have also pondered this....It is said that Purascharana is an excellent tapas, leading to the vision of the Lord of the mantra. It is the repetition of a mantra as many lakh times as there are syllables in the mantra. For eg. Namah Shivaya has five syllables and therefore if repeated 500,000 times will give very great benefit. But repeating it that many times takes several hours. In one hour we are able to repeat the mantra only 800 times or so if done so properly..even less. 500,000 times takes more than 600 hours. Of course this can be done over several days... It is said though that The Holy Mother would repeat Her mantra subconsciously all the time at all waking hours of the day. Even then a lakh times, even if the mantra were repeated 2000 times an hour would take 50 hours which is physically impossible. i have read that She would repeat Her mantra ALL the time...but i did not know that She would do it one lakh times a day... >sesirekha palle <sesirekhap >Ramakrishna >Ramakrishna >[sri Ramakrishna] chanting the divine name 108 times!! >Mon, 10 Dec 2001 18:06:07 -0800 (PST) > > >Respected elders and knowledgeble persons of the list > >My humble pranams to you all. I have read in one of messages posted some >time ago that Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi used to chant divine name ( doing >nama japam ) daily 1 lakh times. She used to do on behalf of her devotees >as well who were unable to perform nama japam. Holy Mother stressed the >importance of nama japam and asked the devotees to chant any divine name >108 times atleast. But when i am calculating today, i am surprised to see >how much time it will take to chant any divine name 1 lakh time a day!! It >is not possible for humans. How could Holy Mother possibly chant a lakh >times a day??? Is it true? Please shed light on this. > >Hail to Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa!! > >shashi. > > > > > >Check out Shopping and Auctionsfor all of your holiday gifts! > >
