Guest guest
The Vivekananda Centre London has had a very active month. We had a series of three talks/presentations at Brent Town Hall in London. The themes we explored were Vedanta, Interfaith, and Science and Religions. The venue was filled to capacity. We had very important guests including heads of the Interfaith movements, heads of Religious education of Harrow, Ealing and Brent as well as heads of Religious education from the London University Board and the Government body called the QCA. The talks and presentations went well. The heads of many of the local temple bodies were present too. One of the presentations dealt with the 'Evolution of Hinduism in the West' put across by 18 members of our centre. This is a self critical examination of how well or how poorly Hinduism is manifesting in the West. We also had a chance to share our views with the Chief Moderator of the United Reform Church in the UK. (This body is the English equivalent to the Vatican body in Italy). This meeting went off very well. We had to make presentation of Hinduism to the Sixth formers (16-18 age group) at a very large Roman Catholic school in Rickmansworth as well as to the sixth formers from a large school based in Wembley. We also conducted a seminar at a school in Willesden where the majority of candidates are ethnic Blacks. By the grace of our mentor all these meetings and presentations are well received. I take the name of Sri Ramakrishna, sharpen the arrow called Vivekananda and using all my puny strength ...fire......I can actually see the audience shudder. Vivekananda steals their hearts : ) jay Vivekananda Centre London
