Guest guest
Dear Members, I haven't understood what Mr.Ananta want to mention. It that America?(the rich country) Then i disagree with him. Because misery is common to everybody and it manifests according to their own custom. I find misery in both countries India and in America it its own way. God alone can get rid of the misery and not the amount of the wealth. Also when you compare the amount of expenditure a rich man spends in India will feed many children in somalia or any poor african nation. The subject is relative. In America, life demands its own way of living standard according to their culture. Here they don't accumalate wealth, while in India there is a tendency of accumulating wealth thru land and gold. In america, they live for present while we live for future. As a result we are always in the past. As a result they(americans) are moving towards future. God alone is the past, present and the future and he is the real. All talks by any spiritual personality (however grand) have to be read in context. If you would have seen the earlier postings from the same talk - we see Swami Vivekananda developing the idea that pleasure and pain are relative concepts. He thus mentions that if we live in an affluent society that does not necessarily produce greater net pleasure - we are then susceptible to greater pain by the pressures imposed on us. jay Vivekananda Centre London
