Hullo,

I read something which I thought was relevant to this

topic:

Through the fear of God vanish worldly fears. The fear

of God which eliminates all other fear-how may it be

called fear? No other resting place is except Thee;

all that happens is Thy will. One might be afraid of

it if anything other than God held any fear-to be

shaken with such fears is sheer perturbation of mind.

fear or love<BR>

<BR>

& gt; Dear Friends<BR>

& gt; Could you comment on whether people pray to God

out of<BR>

& gt; fear or out of love. The other day I had one of

my<BR>

& gt; friends telling that if she didnot pray, she

would be<BR>

& gt; punished and sent to hell. I feel that in

some<BR>

& gt; religion, remembering and talking to God is more

out<BR>

& gt; of fear than out of love or respect. Fear of

being<BR>

& gt; punished weighs more than the love for God. Its

seems<BR>

& gt; that its more of a duty rather than praying

for<BR>

& gt; respect or to spend some time in solace of the

company<BR>

& gt; of God, who provides affection and love to

his<BR>

& gt; children. Whats your opinion<BR>

& gt; Regards<BR>

Dear Raj<BR>

<BR>

Swami Vivekananda has said something like:-<BR>

Religious journeys may begin with 'fear' but have to

end with<BR>

'love' for God. Fear may be the starting point but

love has to <BR>

take over at a later stage.<BR>
