Guest guest
Here is the part of the stroy that you posted on the Ramakrishna |: One day when Shyamasundari was returning to Jayarambati from a visit to her father's house (at Sihar), she sat under a tree in a wooded spot. Suddenly she heard jingling sounds and saw a small girl coming down from the tree. Tenderly the girl clasped Shyamasundari about the neck. At once Shyamasundari fell into a swoon. She remained unconscious for a long time, and her relatives took her home. She felt that the girl had entered into her womb. Falling asleep after lunch one day, Ramachandra Mukhapadhyaya saw in a vivid dream a young girl of golden complexion and unusual beauty, tenderly encircling his neck with her arms. Noticing her precious ornaments, he asked who she was. In a musical voice she replied: `You see, I have come to your family.' How can a Scintific man believe this. This seems absurd to me.Please clarify. Guest guest
Hello, The series on the life of Sri Sarada Devi will have a lot of " unscientific " things mentioned. Already a person has raised a note on the vision of Shyamasundari Devi. > How can a Scintific man believe this. This seems absurd > to me.Please clarify. Science does not dictate nature, but only tries to understand and explain it. Nature is not limited by science. There are several phenomenon of nature which science is yet to understand or even willing to explore. The incidents in the life of saints is one such phenomenon. Because we cannot understand it, the best we can do is to give a name to them - " miracles " . Inability to understand is not a reason for rejection. Such rejection is " unscientific " . Scientific methodology does not permit rejecting a phenomenon just because you do not undertand it. When a " scientific " man believes the existence of atoms, of which he has only read in books, I do not understand what prevents him from believing in the incidents in the life of saints, which has been seen and recorded by several people with their naked eyes (unlike an atom which can be seen only through special instruments). I agree that visions are seen by some people only, but again, they cannot be warded off as lies, because the people involved are known to be more ethical than most of the scientists. That is why they are called saints. If you do not believe in the words of saints, whose words are you going to believe ? If you insist on seeing everything you want to believe, you cannot keep one step on the ground without testing for yourself its firmness. You cannot take one breath of air without testing that it is free from poison. Every simple action is based on ton and tons of belief. If you want to believe in the words of someone, it is best to put your belief on persons whose life has shown the atmost integrity of character and these are saints. Do not take their word without knowing them. Study their life thoroughly and if you find someone's life guaranteeing the faith you want to put on the person's words, put it. Read the life of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramana and other saints. See how they come up to each situation in their life. Then decide for yourself whether to believe in their words or not. If you do that, you will find that their words are much more worth for their truthfullness than tons and tons of literature by people whose lives have been full of contradictions. Now the issue is that, they might be truthful to their knowledge, but their knowledge itself might be flawed. I am not asking you to seek from them solutions for problems in trignometry or calculus, which they may not have been exposed rightly to. There are much more bigger, more common and more relevant problems of everyday life, which every one of us are forece to face irrespective of our role in the world. It is to these problems that you seek them. The incidents mentioned in this series are of common life, which we see everyday. A person does not need to have a Doctorate to be able to narrate or comment about them.
