Guest guest
Namaste, The hallowed tradition of teaching Vedanta is the " Guru- Shishya " sampradaaya [Teacher-Disciple tradition]. One can point to the Kathopanishad, shikshaa-valli, as the pristine source. Part 6 of the book Hindu Dharma by Kanchi Paramacharya gives many details. The whole book is on-line at URL: http://kamakoti.org/search/search.php# Gita has the oft-repeated verse: tadviddhi praNipaatena pariprashnena sevayaa . upadekshyanti te j~naan.n j~naaninastattvadarshinaH .. 4:34 .. " Know this! Through humble submission, Through enquiry, through service, The knowing ones, the perceivers of Truth, Will teach thee wisdom. " As an intellectual study modern methods would suffice. As a spiritual 'saadhanaa', only the guru, who 'lives' vedanta, can guide the properly qualified aspirant [saadhanaa- chatushhTaya', and 'shamaadi-shhaTka'].
