Guest guest
Namaskar... As far as i can recall, Prof JC Bose conducted experiments on plants and his experiment proved beyond doubt that plants experience severe trauma not merely when you 'hurt' them, but also when you THINK of hurting them...they are as sensitive as animals.. if not more and so there is a fallacy in adopting a 'holier than thou' attitude merely because one is a vegetarian on that ground... perhaps non-vegetarianism gives rise to greater passions which is a negative trait for the spiritual life, but then again so many GREAT ONES have been non-veg and have attained the highest.... speaking of all this i am reminded of that lioness in Kenya that adopted an orphaned baby oryx(like an antelope) for several weeks. THe lioness would not dare even go to hunt for food and feed herself as she was afraid of leaving this poor 'cub' alone. One day, however, she found to her dismay, when she had just left the presence of the oryx for a few minutes that a male lion had gone for the oryx's jugular and made an apertif of that bovine.... The lioness apparently grieved for a while but, according to today's papers that same lioness has adopted ANOTHER baby oryx... (you know what i think...it is that same oryx reborn and they are soul-mates through eternity....!) THis true story kind of puts a spanner on the thought that only strict non-vegetarianism is incapable of producing compassion.... This story is so like the fable of the lion cub thinking itself to be sheep...but this lioness seems not to have learnt of its 'divinity' witihin...
