Guest guest
Namaste, If you can spare a few hours, the following books will inform you about what is being done: 1. History of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, by Swami Gambhirananda, 3rd revised edition 1983. 2. The Ramakrishna Movement, by Swami Budhananda. 1st ed. 1980. The motto of the movement is: aatmano mokshaarthaM jagaddhitaaya cha . [ " For the highest freedom of the self, and the good of the world. " ] I,for one, do feel hurt by your words, and I pray that you will seek forgiveness from Thakur himself and Swamiji. Regards, Sunder Ramakrishna, " Vivekananda Centre " <vivekananda@b...> wrote: > The following message was sent by Karthikeyan > (We had to edit it and resent it to the list as it had the > whole digest in the reply.. Guest guest
Namaste, Thakur and Swamiji, through the pens of Swami Smaranananda and Swami Tapasyananda, have given the answers in Vedanta Kesari: http://www.sriramakrishnamath.org/magazine/vk/2001/12-8-1.asp http://www.sriramakrishnamath.org/magazine/vk/2002/2-5-1.asp http://www.sriramakrishnamath.org/magazine/vk/2002/3-5-1.asp India is already full of different sects and many kinds of Sannyasins. What then was the necessity of creating one more order of Sannyasins? Is it not impractical to give direct Sannyasa to youngsters instead of following the traditional Varnashrama Dharma and taking up Sannyasa after fulfilling the duties of domestic life? Why, instead of leading the life of absolute recluse devoted to study and meditation, are the Sannyasins of the Ramakrishna Order entangling themselves in secular work befitting a social worker? This way, the divine can be served anywhere. Why confine it only to Rama-krishna Order activities? The same service rendered by a monastic in Ramakrishna Order would have happened through him by the momentum of his past karma. Then how can it become sadhana by joining the order? Is not deflecting the mind from the holy contemplation of the Divine, in the name of doing service to the world, a violation of the rule of Sannyasins and lowering of its ideal? Youth is the raw potential of any country and mankind at large. Can you tell what is the message for them by Swami Vivekananda through the Ramakrishna Order? Monasticism is a life suitable for a chosen few. Then how can one think that people of the common run can also join the Ramakrishna Order in thousands and find themselves fit to practise this grand ideal? How can a man of patriotic feelings find fulfilment of his ideal of regeneration of India through the Ramakrishna Order? Is there scope for an individual to nurture his talents interfacing it with the pursuit of this high ideal? Now I have understood the ideology of Ramakrishna Order. Kindly tell me what are the expectations from an aspirant who wishes to join it as a monastic? Does a youth aspiring to become a monk on the ideals set by Swami Vivekananda get some training in the Order? Please tell in some detail the requirements and the process followed therein.
