Guest guest
Namaste, The 'Hindu' (Sanatana Dharma) views on sex and drugs are simple: varnashrama dharma and purusharthas. 1. The Summum Bonum of human life is union with the Supreme Spirit. 2. This cannot be attained without adherence to dharma. 3. The four stages of life [student, householder, retired, renunciate] are meant as a systematic approach to the Summum Bonum. 4. This approach is known as yoga or sadhana. 5. The Gita is a vade mecum of the practice of this approach: 'yogasthaH kuru karmaaNi' . 6. Self-control, tranquillity of mind, equanimity, & c. are the basic ingredients in this. 7. Ch 6:v.17 - yuktaahaara yuktacheshhTaa yuktasvapna-avabodha [moderation in eating, recreation, work, sleep/awake periods,] 8. Drugs cannot constitute a part of yuktaahaara, so cannot be recommended, and in fact srongly proscribed! 9. Sex is a part of all the desires [kaama], and for indulgence in any sensual thoughts/speech/acts, bondage is the price to be paid. [Gita 2:62-63].
