Guest guest
Question from Patrizia: patrizia14 I have come to read some of the wrintings of Swami Vivekananda by chance and they have deeply struck me. Mostly the item of the non-use of religion unless it leads to a direct experience of God which is something I feel to be very true. I would like to have some suggestions on which could be the very first steps on the way described by Swami Vivekananda. In the writings about Raja Yoga he gives some practical hints but he says that pepople should practice under the control of a teacher or guru. Can you please give some simple suggestions? Thank you very much! Patrizia patrizia14 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~one response~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Patrizia You have raised a very valid question. I have given my response at the end of this message. Some of our learned list members may wish to respond too. Swami Vivekananda clearly says that you should not take up Raja Yoga without the help of a qualified teacher. Where do we get a qualified teacher? Not easy. Swami Vivekananda has also commented that if and when you are ready, a qualified teacher will come looking for you. It is a bit like the law of supply and demand. He has also suggested that until you find a qualified teacher you should perhaps rely on your innerself as the guide and pray for that inner awakening. jay
