The message enclosed may be of interest to our list members

looking for some worthwhile activities for their children or

grandchildren this summer. This body (AGII) does wonderful work

in spreading religious education amongst the young.

~~~~~~~~Details of Summer program received from AGII ~~~~~~~~~~

 

The Association of Grandparents of Indian Immigrants is

organizing a Summer Story Program of Indian Heritage,

for age groups (a) 5-12 years and (b) 13-19 years.

 

Audio CDs/audio tapes (called Talking Books) will be mailed

to registrants. There are 21 audio CDs with136 stories to

choose from. In order to make them interesting for any age

group, these stories are narrated in a professional manner,

with background music and appropriate sound effects.

The program runs between June 15 and August 15.

 

Registration is now in progress. Following registration,

the participants, in consultation with parents, can choose any

5 CDs out of 21 that suit his/her need.

You can register through e-mail or by mail (Association of

Grandparents of Indian Immigrants, 2619 Bradwell Court,

Baltimore, MD 21234) by filling the registration form and

paying a small amount of money to cover the cost of materials

and their mailing. The program package, however, will be

mailed during the first week May. The stories are taken from

the Ramayana and Mahabharata; the Puranas;

the Jatak-katha; Hitopadesh and the Upanishads.

 

Successful candidates, who will listen to at least 20 stories and

answer the associated quiz questions, will receive an attractive

graduation certificate for display and a video (or a CD with power point

presentation) with stories of Indian heritage. Certificate of

achievement is distributed by September 15, 2002.
