Guest guest
Namaste, Swami Vivekananda reminisced about his first meeting with Thakurji. He sang two songs for him: [from Kathamrita]. " M.:You remember the first day of your meeting well. NARENDRA: That was in the temple garden of Kali at Dakshineshwar. In his own room that day I sang these two songs for him. " : Mind! Go to your own abode. Why do you roam aimlessly in this foreign land of earth, In the garb of a stranger? The five objects of sense and the elements, They are all strangers, none is your own. Why do you forget your own people, Infatuated with the love of aliens? O mind, ascend the path of truth, Proceed every moment lighting the lamp of love, Carry with you your assets of virtuous deeds, In great secret and with great care. Greed, delusion and other brigands Rob the traveller of all his wealth. Carefully employ two guards, calmness and self-control. There are rest houses called company of the holy. Rest there if you feel exhausted. If you feel you have lost your way, Ask those who travel there about it. If you see the frightful figure of fear on the road, Depend with all your heart upon the mercy of the King. Mighty is the power of the Ruler over that road, At whose rule the king of death trembles. Song: Will all my days end in vain? O Lord! I spend day and night Looking at the road of hope. You are the Lord of the three worlds, I am a beggar, utterly forlorn. How can I tell you, Come to my heart? I keep open the door of the cottage of my heart always. Will you mercifully come once And bring peace to my heart?
