Guest guest
VALMIKI RAMAYANA Volcano Eruption followed by Tsunami at Mount Mahendra Valmiki Ramayana _ Sundera Kanda 1 - 86. English Translation _ Gita Press, Gorakhpur Did Poet Marishi Valmiki experience a Volcano eruption followed by giant earth quake and Tsunami ? In South India and Lanka The description in the Sundara Kanda fits the natural disaster. Hanuman takes a leap from Mount Mahendra to reach Lanka Read quotes below: Shloka 12 : " Pressed by the monkey, the aforesaid mountain forthwith shook awhile and caused the flowers on the trees to fall " Shloka 14 : " The said mountain spirted water profusely " Shloka 15 : " The Mahendra mountain let loose streams of gold, antimony and silver " Shloka 16 : " The mountain also discharged massive boulders containing realgar as a fire burning " Shloka 17: " The mountain filled the earth as well as four quarters " Shloka 18: " The rocks burst into flames as though lighted by fire, and got split up into thousands of fragments " Shloka 45: " The trees flew with force on all sides " Shloka 50: " The trees sank into the sea as mountains took a plunge into the ocean " Shloka 53: " The vast sea looked charming like a the star spangle heavens " Shloka 64: " The wind thundered like a cloud " Shloka 68: " The sea looked riotous " Shloka 69: : " The mighty wind generated … violently agitated the sea, which began to roar terribly " Shloka 70: " Bellows resembling mount Meru and Mahendra rose in the sea " Shloka 79: " The sea below … moved with great speed got suddenly transformed into a trough " We should note that Hanuman Took the leap from the shore of India to reach Lanka. The site of the Mahendra mountain would then be close to Lanka So did the Tsunami occur in South India before Valmiki's times and hence he could describe so correctly?
