This is in response to Mr. Y S Rao’s suggestion on not visiting the temples. Sant Tukuram initially used to pray to Panduranga Vittal only. At this stage he used to feel discomfort in visiting other temples since he could only absorb Panduranga. At the second stage he could see Panduranga in every god in every temple. At further stage he installed Panduranga in his heart. He could see Vittal everywhere. He used to sing his abhangas in ecstasy. He identified him self to god so much. There is nothing left physically at the time of nirvana. Sant Tulasi Das used to pray to Ram. He had vigrahas of Ram, Sita and Lakshman. He used to chant bhajans in praise of Rama. He visited temples and practiced idol worship. Enlightenment comes to different people different ways. So visiting temples is purely an individual’s choice. One should not misguide people with wrong notions. ***** Sri Swamy Sukhabodanandaji says when we enter a temple and visit the main deity, we get charged; we are cleansed with positive energy emanated by the deity. In this context I want to add:

We should remember that our actions like going to temple, praying even

at our own house are the steppingstones for our growing children to

follow / observe our traditions. So even the individuals though

matured enough spiritually (who perhaps may not need these things to

do physically) have to follow for the sake of our youngsters. If they

stop, the children will miss the atmosphere to grow their spiritual

values.
