The debts can be discharged in the form of Yagnaas viz., Brahma Yagna, Deva Yagna, Pithru Yagna, and Bhoota Yagna and Manushya Yagna. Of the Brahma Yagna there are three kinds of Tarpanaas in the name of Deva, Rishi, and Pithru. Every one of us are indebted to the Devatas – Divine forms for the reason they give us opportunities by creating environment and other bodies and they are responsible for proper functioning of all Angaas; while Rishi is considered to help us for a comfortable life by granting us required Gnana to achieve our day to day livelihood and to step into the path of spirituality, and the Rishis are also called as Gurus or Masters, in other words who ever dedicate their life for granting us an insight or knowledge and reasoning capacity, they are all rishis; while Pithru is the one who are responsible for granting us this physical form of life. Every one of us while taking birth carries these three debts and discharging of the three debts alone lead to total salvation. In other words these three who are responsible for our peaceful existence are to be invariably remembered and offered our best – at least Jal – water in the form of Tarpan. Tarpan means –Tripti in literal terms which is also called as Satisfaction. Yagna is derived from Yaj – which means Offering, sacrifice etc. I have noticed in number of cases where the Tarpanaas – Jal Tarpanaas are offered daily to Deva, Rishi, Pithru, where a lot of enrichment was found in the lives perhaps beyond description on this small paper. Unless three MAIN IMPORTANT DEBTS are discharged, one can not aim at Moksha. Those who ever is wearing Yagnoopaveet, it has to be kept to its normal and usual position of left shoulder up and right side down, in this position Aachaman has be to taken by putting the water keeping the arm in the shape of Gokarna and swallowing the same four times as Tatva Achaman/three time with Kesava Namaas and the yagnopaveet in the same position Tarpan can be given to Devas by putting one spoon of water leaving to the plate through the four fingers down. In the case of Rishi Tarpan, yagnopaveet position is in the form of Danda round the neck and one side up through the right hand thumb and water released twice holding the arm in the form of a grip in between the gap; while Pithru tarpan is to be done while making the yagnopaveet to the opposite direction and releasing water three times between index finger and thumb. This process is a part of Brahma Yagna. The Deva Yagna is possible through the sacrifices etc as in the case of Havan. Pithru Yagna is through performing the rituals that are needed to be done for Pithru Devataas – for example – offerings to be made in the forthcoming Mahaalaya Paksha etc. and yearly tithi, offerings made in Brahma Kapala or Triveni, or Gaya etc. Bhoota Yagna is the offerings we have to make for Birds, insects etc that are indirectly helpful for our existence. Manushya Yagna is the offerings we have to make to our fellow less fortunate human beings on the basis of LIVE –LET LIVE. Athidhi Pooja etc are in this category. Please do this invariably and remember that this is the basis ONLY BASIS PLEASE BELIEVE of our peaceful existence and thereafter. All this – in the case of Brahma Yagna – may not take much time when once it is practiced but surely an immediate practice in this direction shall remain as a stitch in time. Let us not be worried about the past where we could not do this, but surely we should be worried about the future as TIME WILL NOT STOP for us and soon we are coming to SUNSET TIME. Yagna Daana Tapah Karma, Na Tyajyam Karya Mev Tat, Yagno Daana Tapachaiva, Paavanaani Maneeshinaam - The Holy Geetha 18(5)… Yogaacharya Bhagavan Shri Krishna in his Geethopades made it specific and clear that Yagno……..paavanaani… one gets purified and sanctified through the acts of Yagna, Daana and Tapas. Let us remain purified and we have to try this process every second of life. The path of the Duty is the way to Glory- it is a path of our duty. If we do not do it for ourselves, who else will do it for us? Yours affly HARA HARA MAHADEVA Dr P V Sesha Sai Aswamedhayaaji
Guest guest
Respectful Yaaji ji, Namaskaarams! It is our luck to know some thing about yagnas and about tarpanas from your mail. You explained the procedure vividly. I have a request. Can you educate on importance of 'Sandhya Vandanam' and elaborate the typical procedure and its effects. Pranams!
