Guest guest
M.V.SUBRAHMANYAM, B.A.,LL.B., RETIRED HIGH COURT REGISTRAR 2-31 Chaitanyapuri Colony, HYDERABAD My Dear Readers, You are all well aware that I am writing commentary on " Maha Bharat " in simple English and simple Telugu. You all know that all the human beings are born in one star (Nakshatra) or other. We believe that our fate depends on the stars (Nakshatras) in which we were born. If our stars are not good and amicable, we do " Nakshatra Pooja " by employing some priests. They perform " Nakshtra Pooja " on our behalf. Therefore, it is better to know about the Nakshatras and their influence on the human beings. In Krishna Yaju BraahmaNam, TruteeyaashTakam, Pradhama PrapaaThakam, (Taittireeya BraahmaNam), there is a chapter called " NakshatrEshTi " . In this NakshatrEshTi, there are 15 Deva Nakshatraas and 15 Yama Nakshatraas. Generally, we count the Nakshatras from Asvini. But actually, the counting of Nakshatras will begin from Krittikaa Nakshatram. From Krittikaa to Visakha, they are called Deva Nakshatras. From Anooraadha to BharaNi, they are called Yama Nakshatras. In the above Brahmanam, it was so arranged that the Mantra for the corresponding Nakshatra was given first. After giving mantras for all the 27 nakshatras, the " IshTi " for the 27 nakshatras was given later. Therefore, it is becoming difficult for the Upasaka or who perform pooja or Japa of the concerned Nakshatra, to search for the ishTi for the concerned nakshatra. Therefore, our Guru arranged the Nakshatras and the IshTi, one below the other, so that we can perform the Japa of Nakshatra and also the IshTi of the Nakshatra. For each nakshatra, there is one adhishtaana devata. For example, for the first nakshatra Krittika, the adhishtaana devata is Agni. First we chant the Mantra and worship Agni. Then we do Ishti (satisfying the adhishtaana Devata, Agni). If we are able to perform Homa, we can perform Homa and do IshTi. If it is not convenient to perform Homa, it is sufficient if we chant IshTi along with the Mantra. For example, I was born in the nakshatra, " Visaakha " . It is the 14th nakshatra. It is a Deva Nakshatra. The deities are " Indrudu and Agni " . If I chant the Mantra for 108 times or, according to my convenience, any number of times, and also chant the IshTi also, the concerned Nakshatra and deity will be satisfied and shower his kind looks upon me, as a result, I may feel happiness in my day to day life, or, atleast, I may not land in unnecessary troubles. I hope this will help you to know about your Nakshatra and also the way to satisfy the said Nakshatra. Instead of employing some priests to perform Nakshatra Pooja or Japa, it is better if we ourselves perform the Japa and Ishti and satisfy the concerned Nakshatra so that, We will have satisfaction that we ourselves performed the Japa for our Nakshatra and perform Ishti to the said Nakshatra.
