Guest guest
The story of NARA NARAYANA. In ancient times Dakshdu the Brahmamana's son marries Prasuti the daughter of Manuvu. Tthey give birth to sixteen daughters. The daughters Swadha was offered to Pithrudevas, Swaha was offered to Agni god and Stidevi(parvati) was married to Siva. The remaining 13 daughters were married to Dharmudu. The ultimate God Narayana was born to one of the wives " Moorthi " as Narayana and also out of his Grace(ANSH) another child born to Moorthy as Nara. Thus Nara and narayana were born and grew with utmost affection and friendship towards each other. In those days, one rakshsa named Sahasra kavacha was very powerful and equally terrible. He had one thousand kavachas. Each kavacha can be destroyed by doing one thousand years of Tapas and by fighting another thousand years. Therefore, the Nara and Narayana each one did one thousand years of Tapas alternately and fought with the Rakshas one thousand years destryoying his kavachas one after the another and finally killed him and saved the world from the cruel acts of the terrible Rakshasa. Then they went to the Ashram of Badari the sage and began to teach the Path to Moksha to the other resident Maharshis. Nara Narayana also began a great tapas causing anxity to Indra. The worried Indra sends Manmadha along with other angels to destroy the Tapas of Nara Narayana and fail miserably in their mission. Then Nara Narayana take pity on them and with a smile show them the most beautiful angels who were serving them. Then they offer Manmadha and others the most beautiful angel URVASHI. Manmadha takes her to Indra and offers to him. In Dwapara uga the same Nara Narayana took birth as Arjuna and Krishna respectively to destroy the Adharma and restablish the Dharma order in the world. The story above is taken from the Book " Srimannarayaneeyam " written by Sri Narayana bhattatiri, published by Geeta Press, Gorakhpur, UP. Price Rs. 35/- Regards, Y S RAO.
