Guest guest
Duryodhana says in Mahabharata (Pandava Gita) that Jaanaami dharmam na cha me pravrittih Jaanaami adharmam na cha me nivrittih Kenapi devena hridisthitena Yatha niyuktosmi tatha karomi Means: I know what is right, but I cannot do it, I know what is wrong, but I cannot refrain from it. Some motivating power decides in my heart, and whatever it designs, that only I can do. These are the words of Duryodhana in Dwapara Yuga, when Dharmam was on two legs. This the situation of every one of us in Kali Yuga too, when the Dharmam is on one leg only. But, as Bhagawan Ramana Maharshi says, God has given us freewill to use it properly, before acting. Once the action takes place, you are bound by the karma phala, unless you do it with Tyaga Bhava. Divine incarnations like Sai Baba are spreading unconditional love amongst people from all walks of life through various ways and means to show how one should follow the path of unconditional love and tyaga. Love is the only force which binds person to person and prakriti, which includes everything else, and it is such a bond, no latest adhesive will work so well. Unconditional Love is the essence of all Vedanta and unless we kindle the light of this unconditional love now in our hearts, I am afraid, we are wasting our present lives. The sooner the better and one has no choice if one wants to llive not only happily now, but also to reach HIS abode. Hence, I salute from the ottom of my heart all the saints who preached and are preaching this unconditional love. I am sure, Swamiji is talking about this treasure only, which is hidden right under us, but we are blind to it. The soon we realise this truth, the better for our lives. Love and Love alone... P. Guest guest
" The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it. " Henry Thoreau One Question ? Duryodhana knew what was right from wrong and so do many of us. But due to past karma phala which determines our buddhi , we act in a particular whihc inturn creates another cyel of karma phala. How do you get ou of it ? How do you transform a basically bad ( there are cruel people in this world. one cannot ignore it. if we do, it is better to recognise that it is just a state of denial) person to so called good? How does the emanicpation of godliness occur? " Laxmi Deepshika Cherukuri " <laks_deep
Guest guest
Dear Laxmi, Sai Ram. I am sure there could be better answers but here is what strikes me. Each soul goes through a series of cycles (like pendulum swings) of action and reaction. Duryodhana's life was in the negative swing of the karmic pendulum. So, even as he knows intellectually what is good and what is bad, his moral fibre has not become strong enough to resist temptations to do what are assuredly selfish acts. Knowing intellectually is the first stage of knowing in the heart of heart so that the desire itself is totally eradicated. So, at any given time, there will always be good people and there will always be bad, cruel people. For the good, it is a test to see whether their goodness remains good in the face of unadulterated cruelty. For most of us, it will be easy to be good to good people but not easy to be good to bad people. We all tend to react or be like mirrors. So, the karmic pendulum or yo-yo keeps moving. The best way of dealing with badness or cruelty is to realise that both and bad come out the same God (Parabrahma) who is untouched by all the attributes. That does not mean that we have to accept the evil. At the practical level, we should oppose the act, but without hatred for the actor. Sai Ram. With best wishes, Swamy Laxmi Deepshika Cherukuri <laks
