Dear Friends and like minded persons

MAHAA KAVI KAALIDAAS FUNCTION – WE HAVE DONE IT GRANDLY ON 8TH

DECEMBER 2006

Three months ago it was our dream to proceed ahead with the granting

of Mahaa Kavi Kaalidaas Award on seeing news that China has taken

steps to install an idol of Mahaa Kavi in their country. A few days

were passed – with surely a kind of mixed feeling and a kind of

ashamed sense as to how we could not do this for a great poet of our

land. Ultimately the matter has taken a shape yesterday – at

Rangareddy District ZP Meeting Hall in the presence of Shri K Jana

Reddy Hon 'ble Home Minister of A.P and the dignitaries were brought

to the dais with Poorna Kumbham – a Holy ritual earmarking a great

honor. Shri Jana Reddy, Shri P V R K Prasad, Shri P Venkateswarlu,

and the Holy couple of MAHAAMAHOPADHYAYA ACHARYA SHRI PULLELA SRI

RAMA CHANDRUDU – the awardee – were received by me and by my wife

Smt Padmavathy while the religious band called Sannai followed us to

the dais.

 

It was a colorful function where Dr Ananta Lakshmi, Dr Kandadai

Srinivasacharya and Dr Radhasri – the great poets were the

commentators for the function. Shri Mohan Reddy former MLA took the

lead in the function. Justice P Kodanda Ramaiah, former Judge of

High Court and many others were present in the fully air-conditioned

hall.

 

Shri P Sri Rama Chandrudu was honored initially with a garland,

later with abhishekam with the unusual items like – the pearls, the

conches, gold, silver, copper, and precious stones and silver

flowers. The award was presented to the awardee which includes pure

Zaree Dhotis, hand woven pure zaree Saree and other shawls. Both of

them were garlanded by Dr P V Sesha Sai and Mrs Padmavathy with a

single large Rudraksha rosary. Cash award was also given on behalf

of Aanandaashramam (Regd. Trust). Inspired by the arrangements and

the dignity of the function, the Home Minister of A.P preferred to

give as an award of whatever amount available in his pocket that

moment and accordingly he did in the presence of the audience.

 

We too had an opportunity of receiving honor from Shri Jana Reddy in

the context of completion of one year after Shri Aswamedhayaagam.

Exactly a year ago Shri Jana Reddy was present at the Poornahuti

function of Shri Aswamedhayaagam and this year for this function. A

good number of followers preferred to honor me and my wife at the

same time, and mementoes were distributed for those active members

who were responsible to make Shri Aswamedhayaagam a grand success a

year ago.

 

The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Shri Mohan Reddy former

MLA.

AND OUR DREAMS TURNED TO REALITY – we did this great event

collectively.
