Guest guest
Dr.BalaKrishna Murthy Ramaraju ( ATHREYA - BALAKRISHNA ) Rochester , MN , USA December 16 , 2006 , Saturday SRI HANUMAD VRATHAM Lord Hanuman - Anjaneya - BajarangBali is Sivaamsa Sambhootha - one born from the Divine Energy of Lord Siva. He is Vaayu Puthra - Son of God of Wind - Energy of Siva is carried from Kailas to Kishkhindha Mountain Region where Sri Kesari and Maatha Anjanaadevi are doing penance . Vaayu Deva Implanted the Divine Energy of Siva into Sri Kesari - hence Hanumaan is Kesari thanaya = son of Sri Kesari. From Kesari the Shiva's energy brought by Vaayu Deva is transfered into Maatha AnjanaDevi hence He is Aanjaneya or AnjanaaDevi Puthra(son). Lord Aanjaneya is a great devotee of Lord Raama because Lord Shiva Himself is a great admirer of Lord Raama and it is no wonder Aanja eya Himself has become a great devotee of Lord Raama.Lord Aanjaneya is very powerful , no wonder since He is Vaayu Puthra - God of Tempests, Twisters , Hurricanes , Gales ,Storms and Winds of all nature. Aanjaneya is a Brahmachari a celibate , though some attribute Suvrchala as His consort , but literally Suvarchala means one who is endowed with a powerful magnetic visage(varchassu) , a noble countenance. He studied directly under the guidance of Soorya Bhagavaan (Sun God) as an young Boy He flew towards Sun(He got Sun burnt with a red mouth) and considered to be very wise and of high intellect. Lord KHanumaan is a very powerful diety if He stands alone but if He is in front of Lord raama He is all Humble and absolutely obedient to Raama and all His Powers are at the feet of Raama. Whoever prays Raama , Hanuma is there with folded hands Aanjaneya is the only God who appears before us with folded hands. Lord Anjaneya is The Future Brahma. He is one of chiranjivis(ever living)- the other Chiranjivis being DHRUVA(north polar star) ; PRAHLADA and his grand son BALI ; LORD PARASURAAMA ; MAARKANDEYA ; NACHIKETHA. ; ASWATTHAAMA (son of DroNaachaarya) ; KRIPAACHAARYA (maternal uncle of ASWATTHAAMA) ; VEDA VYAASA and His Son SUKA and VIBHISHANA (brother of RaavaNa Brahma). Let us Pray before Lord Aanjaneya . OM THATH SATH. OM SIVAAMSA SAMBHOOTHAAYA VIDMAHE , OM VAAYU PUTHRAAYA DHEEMAHI , THANNO HANUMTH PRACHODAYAATH. OM HARI MARKATAAYA VIDMAHE , OM KESARI THANAYAAYA DHEEMAHI , THANNO ANJANEYA PRACHODAYAATH. OM RAAMA BHAKTHAAYA VIDMAHE , OM ANJANAADEVI THANOOJAAYA DHEEMAHI , THANNO HANUMA PRACHODAYAATH. OM LAKSHMANA PRAANA DAATHAAYA VIDMAHE , OM SITADEVI BHAYAAPAHARANAAYA DHEEMAHI , THANNO ANJANEYA PRACHODAYAATH OM MARKATESAAYA VIDMAHE , OM MAHAA BALA VIKRAMAAYA DHEEMAHI , THANNO SANJEEVINI HANUMA PRACHODAYAATH. athreya-balakrishna
Guest guest
Prof. Krishnagaru, There is another aspect of this interesting story. There is a deep philosophical message. The life and saga of Aanjaneya is a recast of the Rigvedic message. Rigveda says that the only aspiration of man ought to be God realisation. The God is represented in the secred book as Sun. It is thus that the Shivamsa-a born Siddhapurusha even as a baby makes a beeline for the sun from the very cradle. His exploits are all, therefore, yogic feats. He is an yogi par excellence. In keeping with the text of Rigveda, this Yogi Aanjanaya had to befriend the Nara-Rama who was on the path of God Realisation. Rama is mighty not only as an examplry king but a Sadhaka in pursuit of the greatest goal. Who help him in his endeavour? The mighty Rigvedins-Vashista and Viswamitra. Did he get enlightenment? That is also very significant. King Janaka was a mighty philosopher by his own rights and had the possession of Sita The solar Rays!) With help from Vishwamitra Rama gets this treasure (Sitdevi-the Solar Rays). Ravana (Vritra in Rigveda) carries away the Solar Rays(Sita) and hides her. Yogi Hanuman (Agni in Rigveda) along with Sugriva (Indra in Rigveda) come to the aid of Nara(Rama) in search the enlightenment! What is important is to note that Agni is presented as Hanuman in the Ramayana version of Rigveda. There are ofcourse many more similarities between and Rigveda and Ramayana by which we cannot fail to conclude That Sage Valmiki did a yoemen service to mankind by translating the pithy philosophy of Rigveda for the understanding of common man.
