Guest guest
Srimaatrnamaha In our ancient Indian culture 'Sooryopaaasana ' worshiping SUN GOD takes an importent role. Any person who wants perfect health must and should worship the 'SOORYA'( the sun God). The worshiping SUN is also worshiping Goddess GAYATRI. The Sun in male form called as SOORYA, in female form SAAVITRI, and in nutral form as SAVITA. The 'Soorya' is symbalised as Bhagwan VISNU. Only two persons shall cross 'SOORYALOKA' after their death, enroute to their destiny i.e.,MOKSHA. We may see 'ARUNOPAASANA' (worshiping the Sun)in SRUTI also. After the vedic age several poets praised the Sun god by thier works. In those poets 'Mayura bhattu' shall comes first. 'SOORYA SATAKAM' writtan by 'Mayur bhatta mahakavi' is the best one. Observing the importence of this book Italians translated this book into their language with the name as 'SOORYASATAKAM DE MAYURE'' and it was published in the year 1605 A.D. This is the very first translation of Soorya satakam. After that Soorya satakam was translated into english by 'QUACKENBOS', and it was published in the year 1617 A.D. by Columbia University press Newyork. The author Mayura Bhatttu belongs to 7 th cen.A,D. and he was a poet in the court of 'BHOJARAAJA'. Itis learnt that the famous sanskrit poet BAANA MAHAKAVI was the father-in-law of this poet. Once Mayura bhatta mahakavi suffered by the then dreadful disease LEPROCY. Even though this poet was famous in treating several pationts suffefing from snake bits etc., he couldn't find medicine for his disease. No medicine was cured his disease. As such the poet praised the SUN GOD by his Soorya satakam. With this 'Soorya Bhagwaan' appeared before him and cured his disease.
