DEVI PRASOOTHI and DAKSHA PRAJAAPATHI

Devi Prasoothi is the second daughter of Swayambhoo Manu and

SathaRoopa Devi.

After Devi Akoothi got married to Richika MahaaMuni, now it is time

to for Her parents to find a suitable husband for Devi Prasoothi. Manu and

SathaRoopa approached Lord Brahma for advise. Brahma offered His Son Daksha as a

suitable match for Devi Prasoothi.

Now Daksha is complete contrast to His elder co-brother Richika.

Daksha is very rich, a big land lord and full of pride and ego,

opinionated, conscious of his self importance , dictatorial and prone to take

sides.

Brahma thought when once Daksha gets married he will assume

responsibility of a family man and become more down to earth. Let us wait and

see.

Daksha is not destined to become a Rishi or a Muni or a Gothra

Kartha ; he is earmarked to become only a Prajaapathi. Daksha and Prasoothi got

married and Daksha became a Prajaapathi, father of nearly 100 children out of

which 64 were daughters. Prasoothi became a Greatmother bringing forth all these

multitude of children and it is apt to name Obstetrics ward as a PRASOOTHI

GRUHAM . Daksha got all his daughters married off equally among DHARMA (son of

Brahma), CHANDRA (son of ATHRI MAHAAMUNI and ANASOOYA DEVI), and KASHYAPA

PRAJAAPATHI (son of one of Nava Brahmas MARICHI and KALA),AGNI DEV and PITHRU

DEVATHA-BHAVA NAASHAK , Daksha is partial to some of his children. All his

family members including his wife Prasoothi were afraid to cross him except his

youngest Daughter SATHI DEVI. Nothing much is known about sons of Daksha and

Prasoothi , probably they are PANDITHA PUTHRAS.

SATHI DEVI is the youngest Daughter of DAKSHA and PRASOOTHI. SATHI DEVI is an

INCARNATION of AADI PARAASHAKTHI and it is only natural that SATHI DEVI fell in

love with LORD SHIVA , who is a mendicant, inhabiting graveyard and very

scantily dressed .

DAKSHA in his pride could not realize the greatness of SHIVA and is

not very happy with SATHI DEVI's choice of SHIV DEV as HER CONSORT.

To add fuel to the fire , oneday when Daksha visited the court of

BRAHMA , every one stood up to welcome Daksha except LORD SHIVA and Daksha

became very angry and insulted SHIVA. Daksha could not change the mind of SATHI

DEVI and he banished SATHI DEVI from his home. SATHI DEVI went away to live with

LORD SHIVA. Daksha cursed CHANDRA as the latter loved ROHINI more than his

other wives.

One day Daksha performed a Great ADHWARAM (Yajnam) and invited all

clestials except SATHI DEVI and LORD SHIVA. Against the Best counsels of SHIVA.,

SATHI DEVI went to HER father's Yajnam uninvited and faced humiliation .

SATHI DEVI committed suicide and LORD SHIVA was so upset HE sent

VEERABHADRA and BHADRA KALI to destroy the Yajnam which they did and

taught an unforgettable lesson to not only Daksha but other

celestials also.

Now Daksha became more humble and came down to earth.Something Good

came out of SATHI DEVI's Suicide ; SHE Manifest in ASHTTAADASA (18) Major

Shakthi Peetthaas and DWI UTTHARA ARTHA SATHA ( 52 ) minor Shakthi Kshethras.

Among Daksha's daughters MOORTHY married DHARMA and begat NARA- NARAAYAN RISHIS

from whom OORVASI was born.

Other daughters ADITHI, DITHI, VINATHA , KADRUVA etc married KASHYAPA

PRAJAAPATHI and begat Aadithyas, Daithyas, Anoora , Garuda and all the serpents.

SWAAHA DEVI married AGNI DEVA and begat Pancha Agnis SWADHA DEVI married PITHRU

and begat various Pithru Devathalu. So is the Progeny of Daksha Prajaapathi and

Devi Prasoothi. Though an egoist Daksha Prajaapathi is a great Patriarch and

father of many noble ladies , some of whom are our ancestors.

May their progeny including all of our ancestors flourish and bless

all of us.

OM THATH SATH .

TO BE CONTINUED.
