The stage of the householder is laudable. It supports the other 3 stages : Brahmacharya - celibacy, Vaanprasta, Sanyaas - detachment (withdrawal from the material world). Hence the householder must not be lazy but work hard. You are convinced that your sins will drag you down, but why aren't you convinced that faith in God will uplift you? Surrender to God with absolute and unqualified devotion is essential. Merely reacting to circumstances is servitude. It will lead to desire, anger and greed ruling our lives. Get rid of such servitude. Not committing any sins is as good as a hundred acts of virtue. Suspicion is a disease. Quell it by addressing it, else it will cause great harm. In spirituality trust what you hear over what you see, in life, trust what you see over what you hear. Sadhana is that which unlocks the potential within you, and helps 'Nar' become " Narayan " , man become god.. To get rid of the disease of transmigration, take the medication of Bhagavat.
