Guest guest
My Dear Bhagavat Banduvullara, VOICE OF THE RISHIS - 16 ASWADDAHA SSRAVA VRUKSHANAMM -- BHAGAVADGITA In the most sacred book Bhagavadgita in Vibhuti Yoga Chapter, Lord Krishna goes on relating how His Holy image is passed on into certain selected creatures, selected seasons of the year, or selected planets. Those mentioned in this chapter as carrying the reflection sacred Godly powers are worthy of our consideration and priorities. Lord Krishna says in Gita, ' I am the moong among the starts, I am the month Margasirsha among the twelve' and even goes to the extent of saying ' I am the Vasuku', dedaliest of the snakes'. And it is in this context He says " I am the Aswaddha tree among innumberable plants " Let us ponder about why this " Aswaddaha " , pepaul tree is reckoned as the holiest of all the Lord's image or preference. In Homa, the Holy fire, the twigs of Aswaddha only arfe to be offered as fuel (Samidha) for it is sated that the holy fumes purify the ecological order. Again according to the Buddhist scsriputes Gautama became the Buddha, while penancing under the Bodhi tree. The trunk of the tree is white and it is said to have several medicinal values. Further research studies on the plant would certainly yield several secrets why of all the trees the Lord has equated Himself with this Aswaddha tree.
