Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! RISHI VANI - 41 COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO " GAVAAM MADHYE VASAMYAHAM " --Srimad Bhagavatam Lord Krishna in Sri Krishna in Srimad Bhagavatham related by Maharshi Veda Vyasa states that God resides among the cows. Cows occupy the greatest significance in the holy scripts. Lord Krishna is described to us as a cowherd and hence called by the name `Gopala'. " I (aham) dwell (vasami) among cows (gavaam madhye) " is the text that gives a world of meaning to the devotees of Lord Krishna. It's almost so to say; His address is given to the mankind. Lord Krishna as toddler used to devour mountains of butter, curds (yoghurt) and cow ghee. In holy worship " panchaamrita " or the great five nectars consisting of 1) cow milk, 2) cow yoghurt, 3) pure honey, 4) coconut water, and 5) cow ghee are offered to the Lord and distributed among the devotees as " Tirtham " . In ancient India, herds of cows only were considered as wealth, bartered and given as gifts in marriages, yagnas and even in obituary practices. Sree Mahalakshmi is said to live in the back of the cow and hence even cow urine and dung are of great holy order to the devotees. " I live among the cows " , is the great version of Lord Krishna.
