Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 48 COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO TADEVA YUKTAM BHAISHAJYAM --Charaka Samhitha " That which suits you (tadeva yuktam) is only your medicine (bhaishajyam). This wise saying of medical importance given by the Rishi of yore holds good even this day. This is an indication how the seers found out certain truths which are timeless and eternal in value. Today we come across any number of medicines for a single ailment. Pharmacopeias, doubtless, has made rapid strides in eliminating side effects to the minimum, and combining various ingredients for broad spectrum effects. But strangely we find from among the wide range of group of medicines, only a particular drug suits one constitution and to the others cause some inconvenient allergy and has to be given up. This preference in the selection of medicine suited to our constitution is the main dictum given in `tadeva yuktam bhaishajyam'. Not all medicines eulogized in books or ads, should be taken for granted. With all their inherent value of medical properties, those are to be taken in only after a close observation, whether they suit us individually or not. Otherwise the very medicine may turn out to be undesirable for producing effects undesirable. The present day antibiotic drugs calling for test doses are a case in point.
