Gauthama belongs to Gothama Family .

 

Some sources claim that Gauthama is a

 

Brahma Maanasa Puthra.

 

Gauthama is a multi-faceted personality.

 

He is Threthaa Yuga Dharma Nirnetha.

 

He is a Law-giver having written

 

Gauthama Nyaaya Shaasthra.

 

He is a Vedic Jyothish Scholar.

 

He is a Mahaa Thapassvi and an

 

ardent Vedic Ritualist.

 

Gauthama is a favourite of Brahma.

 

Ahalya is Brahma's daughter equal in

 

pristine beauty to Mohini Avathaar.

 

Brahma offered Ahalya's hand to one

 

who goes round Earth thrice and wins.

 

Gauthama went round (Pradakshinam)

 

of His Cow (Go Maatha) thrice and

 

claimed Ahalya's hand claiming His

 

Holy Cow is on a par with Mother Earth

 

and Brahma agreed ;

 

Gauthama and Ahalya are duly wedded

 

with Brahma Himself presiding .

 

In spite of what people might say Ahalya is a

 

very noble chaste Lady and is often

 

mentiond along with Mandodari, Thaara,

 

Seetha and Draupadi.

 

Gauthama and Ahalya led an ideal Gruhastha

 

Aashrama Life and were very benevolent hosts

 

to fellow Maharshis etc during thick and thin .

 

Gauthama Maharshi is responsible in bringing

 

River Godaavari to Earth and hence it is also

 

known as River Gauthami

 

Sathaananda Muni is the son of Gauthama and Ahalya

 

and in turn Sathaananda is the father of

 

Krupi (w/o DroNaavharya) and Krupaavharya.
