Guest guest Posted July 19, 2007 Report Share Posted July 19, 2007 SRI MAATRE NAMAHA " Gangecha Yamunechaiva Godaavari Saraswati Narmade Sindhu Kaaveree jalesmin sannidhim kuru Kaaveree Tungabhadraacha Krishnaveneecha Gowtamee Bhaageeratheecha vikhyaaatahaa panchagangaaha prakeettitaaha " This is mantra which is told by every Hindu while taking bath and while wordhipping God and Goddess. By rendering this sloka the deciple is inviting all holy rivers to come and to stay in the water which is used by him for his bath and worshipping Gods as the holy rivers are sacred and capable in eliminating the sins of human beings. " JALAM NAARAAYANA SWAROOPAM " Rivers Kaaveree, Tungabhadra, Krishnaveni, Gowtami and Bhaggerathi are called as 'PANGHA GANGA' Every Hindu has to take holy river Ganga bath daily. If it is not possible he may take bath in any other holy rivers like yamuna, narmada, sindhu and saraswati ec., If it is also not possible he may take bath in southern India rivers like kaaveree, Tungabhadra and gowtami (godaaavari). These rivers are also having equaal value with Bhaageerathi (GANGA) in eliminating the sins committed by the person who is taking a dip in the above rivers. Even it is also not possible he may use avaliable water which is purified by the first mentiond sloka. All rivers are called female daities and ready to give purity which is highly essential in worshipping Gods.
