Guest guest
PRIYA BHAGAVAT BANDUVULLARA! VOICE OF THE RISHIS: 57 COURTESY: SHRI RAPARLA JANARADHANA RAO NAPRAMADITAVYAM --SIKSHAVALLI –TAITTAREEYARANYKAM 7-9-11 This is a Vedic text from the valedictory convocational address of the Gurus of ancient times. Several, life – important wise and well considered advices are given by the Master, the Guru to his disciple, the Sishya. All these are pragmatic and down to the root advices and strangely contain no elaborate metaphysical and abstract discussions. And the parental advice of the loving teacher, considering his `chela' (student) in his ashram residential Gurukula System, as his own son, consists some grave exhortations how to live on, in the world, while they leave the portals of Ashrama. It is a sort of convocation, university address. It says " Love your mother, she is God, (maatru devo bhava), love your father (pirtru devo bhava), love your teacher, (acharya devo bhava), Lover your guest (adithi devo bhava) etc. And the exhortations conclude with a caution of great significance " Let there be no impediment on your on going process of learning (Swadhyana Pramaditavyam) " `Swadhya " is self learning process, making the aspirant to pursue his studies unhindered (na pramadhitavyam). Hindrances, obstructions, hurdles in the way of noble pursuit of learning or discovering ever new secrets of nature, prove a great curse. These to be identified and avoided, for the successful fulfillment of goals in life. " Let there be no impediments to your future pursuit of studies " is the greatest advice offered by the guru, teacher, to the sishya, the taught, at the time of his parting portals of the forest university (Gurukula). How great were the Rishis of yore in their nucleic thinking! And how indebted we are to their voice! (Rishi vaani)!
